Bireuen – Almuslim University, through its Office of International Affairs (KUI), has once again demonstrated its commitment to promoting cross-border humanitarian cooperation by assisting several international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in distributing aid to orphans affected by the floods in Aceh.
The humanitarian aid was handed over to the International Affairs Office of Almuslim University as the local partner facilitating coordination and the distribution process to the on-site donation management team, namely the Aliansi Pemuda Peduli. This organization is responsible for distributing the aid to the beneficiaries, particularly the orphaned children affected by the flood disaster.
The aid collected came from several international humanitarian organizations that have been active in social and humanitarian activities, namely Peace Winds Japan from Japan, the NGO Pakar HR TAJA IJ Malaysia, the NGO IK Clinic TAJA IJ Malaysia, and the NGO Ihsan Johor Malaysia.
This aid was subsequently channeled through the Aliansi Pemuda Peduli to help meet the needs of flood-affected orphans in several areas of Bireuen Regency, particularly in the sub-districts of Peusangan, Peusangan Siblah Krueng, Jangka, and Kutablang, which had previously been areas significantly impacted by the floods.
The Head of the International Office at Universitas Almuslim, Risky Novialdi, S.IP., M.HI., stated that the International Office’s involvement in this initiative is part of the university’s strategic role in building global cooperation networks that provide direct benefits to the community.
According to him, Almuslim University serves not only as an educational institution but also as a bridge between various international organizations and local communities, ensuring that humanitarian aid is distributed effectively and reaches those in need.
“Through the International Affairs Office, Almuslim University strives to act as a collaborative bridge between international humanitarian organizations and local communities. We ensure that the aid provided reaches those who truly need it, particularly orphaned children affected by the flood disaster,” said Risky Novialdi.
He also added that this collaboration with various international NGOs is a tangible expression of cross-border humanitarian solidarity in assisting communities facing difficulties due to natural disasters.
Furthermore, this cooperation demonstrates the strong ties between international humanitarian organizations and the people of Aceh, who have long been known for their spirit of mutual aid and high level of social concern.
Risky hopes that this established synergy will continue in the future, not only in humanitarian aid activities but also in various other international cooperation programs that can have a positive impact on community development.
“This collaboration is expected to strengthen the spirit of humanitarian solidarity while deepening the cooperative relationship between international organizations and the people of Aceh in post-disaster recovery efforts,” he added.
Through this initiative, Almuslim University reaffirms its role as an educational institution that not only focuses on academic development but also actively contributes to social and humanitarian activities within the community, particularly in Aceh Province.
