Bireuen—Tuesday, March 17, 2026 — An atmosphere of emotion and pride filled the send-off ceremony for Almuslim University (Umuslim) students who will participate in a student exchange program in Japan. The event, held in the campus’s main auditorium, was attended by Umuslim Rector Dr. Marwan, M.Pd, university leadership, vice rectors represented by Vice Rector for Student Affairs Dr. drh. Zulfikar, M.Si, Senate Chair Ir. T.M. Nur, M.Si, deans of faculties, the head of the international affairs office, as well as the academic community and parents of the departing students.
In his remarks, Almuslim University Rector Dr. Marwan, M.Pd, expressed high appreciation for the selected students. “This is a valuable opportunity that you must make the most of. This exchange program opens a golden opportunity to broaden your horizons, strengthen your competencies, and build an international network,” he said enthusiastically.
The two top students, Ms. Ulya Mazna and Mr. Abdul Hafiz, were officially sent off to pursue their studies at Nagoya Gakuin University in Japan. They represent the young generation with a strong commitment to enhancing human resource quality in the era of globalization. Additionally, international students from Japan, Akane and Hikari, were also present; they will return to continue their studies at the same university after previously participating in a similar program.
In addition to being attended by the academic community, the event was also joined by a number of students and alumni who had previously participated in exchange programs. Their presence provided motivation and encouragement to the departing participants. They shared valuable experiences from their studies abroad, while also reminding everyone of the importance of upholding the university’s reputation and national culture while abroad.
The Rector added, “Through this program, we hope students will not only gain academic knowledge but also develop their character, broaden their cultural horizons, and boost their confidence in facing global challenges.”
In addition to the send-off for the students, the event also featured the presentation of plaques and a Q&A session between the students and university representatives. Parents also joined in praying and giving their blessings to their children who were about to depart.
This send-off event is part of the university’s commitment to supporting the internationalization of education and the development of Indonesia’s human resources. Through this exchange program, it is hoped that students will become agents of change capable of bringing benefits to the nation and state.
In recent years, Almuslim University has continued to strive to expand international cooperation with various universities abroad. One of them is Nagoya Gakuin University, Japan, which serves as a strategic partner in this student exchange program.
It is hoped that this collaboration will provide significant benefits for the development of education in Indonesia, particularly in Aceh.
